Guinness World Record is a reference book which is the brainchild of Sir Hugh Beaver, and was co-founded by twin brothers Norris and Ross McWhirter in Fleet Street, London, in August 1954.  This book is published annually, listing world records both of human achievements and the extremes of the natural world.

Currently, Guinness has extended beyond print to include museums and television series. Guinness World Records became the primary international authority on the classifying, recording, and in the verification of a colossal number of world records  thanks to the popularity of the Guinness franchise.
