Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is now filming in Cambridge, Massachusetts and set photos were recently released showing the casts Danai Gurira and Letitia Wright in costume as Okoye and Princess Shuri, correspondingly.

Then there’s Dominique Thorne, who will be playing
Riri Williams aka “Ironheart,” a legacy character that builds her own Iron Man
armor and eventually becomes a superhero. Thorne will make her big screen debut
as Ironheart in Wakanda Forever before featuring her own Disney+ show,
Ironheart, in 2023. Riri Williams is a super fun character in the comics, one of
the standouts of the newer, younger characters created over the last decade.

It is just a little disappointing that Tony Stark has
died in the MCU, because Tony and Riri could have a fun mentoring relationship;
however, that’s probably why they’re introducing her by way of Wakanda. Shuri
and Okoye could possibly take on that mentoring role as Riri dabbles her feet
of becoming a superhero.

On the other hand, everything to do with Wakanda
Forever is haunted by the fact that Chadwick Boseman is no longer around. It’s
quite strange to see the cast back in the new film without T’Challa. Boseman’s
final performance is also his final turn as T’Challa, as Boseman recorded 4
episodes of What If…for Disney+ before the actor passed away.
It’s exciting to see on what’s in store for Wakanda
following the events of Avengers: Endgame, and how Riri Williams fits in;
however, we’ll also have to see how the Black Panther evolves into the
post-Boseman era, post-T’Challa world.
