In the recent appearance of Andrew Garfield on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, the actor shot down the widespread rumors that he’ll be returning to the extended Spider-verse together with the current Spider-Man, Tom Holland, in the 3rd installment of the character’s MCU franchise. “They might be doing something, but I ain’t got a call,” said Garfield.

Garfield explained that he feels like he is in a game of Werewolf or Mafia where he’s like, ‘I promise you I’m not the werewolf.’ And everyone’s like ‘You’re the werewolf!’. The actor clearly stayed on message – “I did not get a call. Listen, I would have gotten a call by now, that’s all I’m saying. I don’t want to rule anything out. Maybe they want to call me! Maybe they’re going to call me and say, “Hey, people want this.”

A lot of fans do want to see Garfield back in his Spidey suit for the first time in seven years. Garfield immediately started trending in Twitter when the interview hit the internet, with some fans expressing their feelings that the actor’s denials are quite suspicious.

On the other hand, unlike Alfred Molina who happily spilled all of the tea about suiting up again as Doctor Octopus, a villain Molina previously played opposite Maguire’s original web-slinger in Sam Raimi’s 2004 favorite, Spider-Man 2.

Alfred Molina said, “It was wonderful,” unveiling that he was given Marvel’s de-aging treatment in the movie, which resurrects Doctor Octopus moments before his supposed demise. “I remembered that it’s the tentacles that do all the work,” Molina added. “The arms are doing all the killing and smashing and breaking. I’m just there with a kind of mean look on my face.”

Meanwhile, the original Spider-Man actor, Toby Maguire, has followed Garfield’s example by staying silent about whether or not the previous Spider-Men will appear in No Way Home. Even Holland himself had been uncharacteristically spoiler-averse, although he did tease that there are big things in store for the web-crawler fans.
