Cate Blanchett was born on May 14, 1969, in Melbourne,
Australia, the award-winning actress first garnered international attention in
the 1998 film Elizabeth.
Since then, Blanchett has worked alongside the most venerated actors in Hollywood, including Brad Pitt, Glenn Close, and George Clooney.
The actress has received much critical praise in her
career, notably for her work in the Lord of the Rings films, Babel, Elizabeth:
The Golden Age and I’m Not There, for which she earned a 2008 Golden Globe for
her performance as Jude Quinn.
Blanchett has been married to playwright and
screenwriter Andrew Upton since 1997. They met in 1996 on the set of a TV show
and tied the knot on 29 December 1997. The couple have three sons and one
daughter. Their sons are Dashiell John Upton (born 2001), Roman Robert Upton
(born 2004), Ignatius Martin Upton (born 2008), and daughter Edith Vivian
Patricia Upton (adopted in 2015). Blanchett said that she and her husband had
been wanting to adopt ever since the birth of their first son.
Cate is often considered as one of the finest
actresses of her generation and has been remarked for her ability to play
characters from many different walks of life, as well as headline a wide range
