Swift tweeted to condemn the joke, which was in the season
finale of comedy-drama ‘Ginny & Georgia’. In one scene, the main characters
Ginny Miller and her mother Georgia argued about relationships.
Ginny was asked whether she had broken up with her boyfriend,
said: “What do you care? You go through men faster than Taylor Swift.”
The said line ignited the wrath of Swift’s fans, provoking
criticism of the show and its cast members on social media. Fans of Swift even
called for a boycott of the said Netflix series.
Swift herself addressed, on Monday, the controversy in
a tweet, stating: “Hey Ginny & Georgia, 2010 called and it wants its lazy,
deeply sexist joke back.”
Netflix, on the other hand, has not made any comment
or responded on the criticism from the pop star, nor has anyone associated with
Ginny and Georgia.
