Majority of the music lovers all around the world, for years now, have chosen to listen to the tunes they can’t get enough of on platforms like Apple Music, Spotify, Pandora, and YouTube instead of purchasing them. Streaming has not so much been creeping in and grabbing bits of market share from digital storefronts like iTunes, but rather dominating in every sense of the word.
Last
year, just one song managed to breach a milestone that used to be conventional,
and it is a track that wasted no time in establishing itself as the massive hit
of the year in many aspects.
‘Dynamite’
outsells the second bestselling song in the U.S. in 2020, The Weeknd’s “Blinding
Lights,” more than twice over. The R&B/pop/electronic hybrid only sold
580,000 copies throughout the year, despite the fact that it was released late
in 2019, meaning it had the entire 12 months in which to ramp up sales.
BTS
released different versions of “Dynamite,” including the ones labeled tropical,
poolside, EDM, acoustic, slow jam, retro, midnight, and bedroom, to name just a
few. Just before Christmas, when it seemed like “Dynamite” might finally be
done with, the septet shared a holiday mix of the song, which ultimately skyrocketed
it back to No. 1 spot on the Digital Song Sales ranking.
It
was such a massive seller from the moment “Dynamite” was released, and it keep going
strong for months. BTS had a huge hit on their hands from the start, and they
implemented an intelligent strategy to keep their biggest fans buying the cut,
which helped it earn a dozen turns on Billboard’s Digital Song Sales
chart. That’s one of the greatest achievements of all time, and “Dynamite” is
still performing extremely well. Despite the fact that it was released back in
September, it continues to be hailed as the bestselling song in the U.S. this
week.
“Dynamite”
was giving BTS their first champion, when the song debuted at the No. 1 spot on
the Hot 100, on Billboard’s highly competitive ranking of the most listened-to music in the U.S. The song wound up leading the charge for three non-consecutive
frames, and it ended up becoming the first of the three No. 1 smash hits on the
ranking in 2020. The achievement made the septet members the first South Korean musical
group to rise as high as anyone can on the list.
